When Boy Meets Girl

One of the things I like about fashion is that it’s constantly evolving and therefore incessant. We find inspiration from almost everything, and, more importantly: we borrow. As we witness on runway shows and streetstyle, we borrow and re-invent fashion from past decades. We borrow from our boyfriends, from our moms and, for today’s post, we borrow from the boys. I appreciate how sometimes designers extract certain masculine elements and infuse them into womenswear, like how tuxedos or sportswear were reinvented and designed to suit female’s bodies.

I think the jersey in today’s post reinvents the traditional ‘jock’ jersey into something rather creative. In college, our professors and doctors are always encouraging us to recreate; to think in a different way. It’s all about taking what already exists and re-designing it to suit other people’s needs. It’s important when trying to coin together ‘sporty’ and ‘fashionable’, to be made from durable fabrics that help shape your body while still maintaining a functional aesthetic.

For today’s outfit I grabbed this jersey and styled it in a way I would definitely wear it: with some grey high waist jeans and a denim jacket tied around the waist. I wanted to step away from the vivid colors I always inject into my outfits and go with something a bit more calm, so the only bold color is the emerald green evident in the Michael Kors watch (which I am in love with) and the Proenza Schouler bucket bag. What do you guys think?
